About
Marcelle Palmer
I am a professional person-centred therapist, a Relate Certified couples counsellor, a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), I am also a Registered Nurse.
As a registered member of BACP I am committed and bound to work under their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (see resources page).
I have been trained in a therapeutic approach called Person-Centred Therapy which is one of the humanistic modalities, but my training was eclectic and covered various therapeutic approaches. My training with Relate was from a psychodynamic approach. I consider myself to be an Integrative counsellor and will use techniques from different modalities to shape an individual approach to suit you and your issues.
I have a wide range of counselling experience with individuals and couples, in a range of settings such as private practice, GP surgeries, a Relate centre and other charitable counselling organisations. For the past ten years I have been hospice based, specialising in grief, bereavement and loss, supporting patients, family members and the general public around these and other issues.
In the last year I have been working solely online and learned how beneficial this can be for clients:
• Improving accessibility
• Removing the need to travel
• Being comfortable in your own home or in a private work area
• Giving you more control over your support
• No receptionists or waiting rooms to negotiate
